屋根は普通、手が届かない所にあるので、見るもので触るものではないが、もし身体性との関わりで考えることができたならば何があるだろうかと考えた。

見るという行為は視覚という感覚を誘発するが、感覚は身体の部位を通して気づくものなので、屋根を見るという行為だけでも身体性との関わりは生まれ、視覚を通して様々な情報を認知させる。だから、屋根が象徴性、帰属性、権威性を表す効果があるといえるのだろう。

さらに視覚を通して認知させることにより様々なアクティビティを誘発することができれば、まさに身体性をリニアに感じることになる。

屋根がアクティビティを誘発するケースを考えることができるか、その場合のアクティビティとは何か、また、その時の屋根の形状は、などと考えてみることにした。

"Activity by roof"

The act of seeing induces the sensation of vision, but since the sensation is noticed through parts of the body, the act of seeing the roof alone creates a relationship with physicality and makes various information recognized through vision. Therefore, it can be said that the roof has the effect of expressing symbolism, attribution, and authority.

Furthermore, if various activities can be induced by visually recognizing them, the physicality will be felt linearly.

I decided to think about the case where the roof induces activity, what the activity is in that case, and the shape of the roof at that time.

屋根は雨風を防ぎ、暑さ寒さを凌ぐのが環境から問われる機能だが、屋根の意匠自体が何かを表すこともあり、屋根の形、素材、装飾などがその建築の象徴性、帰属性、権威性を表す効果もある。

遠くから見た時の屋根は周りとの相対効果で大きさと形を表すことができ、近寄れば様々な細部が見える。
大きさや形、細部のつくりでその建築の象徴性、帰属性、権威性を表現できる。

屋根には環境機能と意匠効果の他に何かあるだろかと考えいる。屋根単体には無いかもしれないが、屋根と他のことが結びつけば何か生まれるかもしれない。

I wonder if there is anything else on the roof besides environmental functions and design effects. It may not be on the roof alone, but something may be born if the roof is combined with other things.

つながりの中にある捩れを探し、捩れていない状態にすることをデザインが担うことで物の美しさや人に優しい物が出現すると考えている。

デザインは最終的に必ずしも物に帰結する必要は無いと考えてはいるが、デザインが人に何らかの良い影響を与えようとするならば、物として表現された美しい物や優しい物が周りにあった方がわかりやすくて良いと思う。

物の美しさは気付かないとわからない、優しい物は触れないとわらからない、だから、形にして物にして、その手段がデザインということである。

"Make things"

We believe that the beauty of things and people-friendly things will emerge if the design is responsible for finding the twist in the connection and making it untwisted.

I think that design does not necessarily have to result in things in the end, but if design wants to have some positive effect on people, there are beautiful things and gentle things expressed as things around. I think it's easier to understand.

You can't understand the beauty of things unless you notice them, and you can't understand them unless you touch gentle things.

じーっと眺めていると目が慣れてくるのか、いろいろと思いはじめる。どうでもいいことがたくさん現れては消えるが段々と収斂していく。このサイクルを無意識のうちに場所を変えながら繰り返すことにより、知らないうちに段々と深まる。

何も考えないようで、人は結構日常的に考えている。やはり、そうしないと生き残れないから、脳が自然と働くのだろう。だから、ふとした瞬間に思いつくことがある。

ならば、意図的に眺めるものが変化する場所にいる方がいろいろなことを思いつくかもしれない。

今いるのは地下鉄のコンコースにあるカフェ。変化するのは通り過ぎる人のみ。完全にコントロールされた環境が暑い日には助かるが、変化するものが少ない分思いつきが乏しくなるかもしれない。

"Inspiration"

People don't seem to think about anything, and people think about it on a daily basis. After all, if you don't do that, you won't survive, so your brain will work naturally. Therefore, I have something to come up with in a moment.

Then, you may come up with various things if you are in a place where what you see intentionally changes.

I'm at a cafe in the subway concourse. Only those who pass by change. A fully controlled environment can help on hot days, but less change may make you less imaginative.

今見えていないことを意識させたり自覚するにはどうしたら良いのか、などと考える機会があった。

よく言われるように、自分のことはわかっているようでわからないものだと、たぶん人は誰でもそうは思いつつ、自分も、どこかでこれはこうだと決めつけている。

そうしないと何も先には進まないし、何も上手くいかないと思っていて、ただそれが思い込みで、その陰にある見えてないことに気づき、自覚できる人だけがつくれるものを自分で見てみたい。

怖いが今の考えの前提部分を真逆にした時のたった一言、ワンフレーズを投げかけてみると、時に状況が一変することがある。状況が一変するということは今までが思い込みで、そのワンフレーズが陰にあり見えていなかったことである。

"What you can't see"

I had the opportunity to think about what I should do to make people aware of what they are not seeing now.

As is often said, everyone probably thinks that they know and don't know about themselves, but somewhere they decide that this is the case.

If you don't do that, nothing will go on and nothing will work, but you just realize that it's a belief and you can't see it behind it, and see for yourself what only people who can be aware of can make. want to see.

I'm scared, but when I throw a single phrase when I reverse the premise of my current thinking, sometimes the situation changes completely. Until now, it was a belief that the situation would change completely, and that one phrase was hidden behind the scenes.

見られることを意識する時点で他者性が入り込み、純粋で自律したものでは無くなる。決して純粋で自律したものが良い悪いでは無く、見られることを意識するかしないかでつくられるものに違いが出ることが面白いと思った。

車窓は夏の郊外の景色、雑草が生い茂る土地の多さに目がいく。しかし、駅周辺だけは立派なマンションが立ち並ぶ。そして、また雑草生い茂る土地ばかり、その中に所々同じような住宅がまた立ち並ぶ。そして、またその繰り返し、どこまで行っても同じ、そこには見られることの意識はあるようで無い。

From the train window, you can see the scenery of the suburbs in summer and the large amount of weedy land. However, only the area around the station is lined with fine condominiums. And again, there are only weedy lands, and similar houses are lined up in some places. And again, it seems that there is no consciousness of being seen there, which is the same no matter how far you go.

しかし、遠くから眺めた時の粗さの中には近視眼的な別な見え方が潜んでいる、いや、潜ましている。その近視眼的な別の見せ方は、よく見ると建築とは関係が無いところで、単なる思いつきの場合もあるが、そのおかげで全く別の見せ方を実現できる。

I sometimes think of architecture that can be seen with a short-sighted view. When viewed from a distance, it does not look rough and detailed, but if it is a three-dimensional model that holds down the key points, it will be an architecture by itself.

However, there is another short-sighted view lurking in the roughness when viewed from a distance, no, it is lurking. If you look closely, the other short-sighted way of showing is not related to architecture, and it may be just an idea, but thanks to that, you can realize a completely different way of showing.
