9D683651-C76D-4479-AAF2-7669745C3D3F.jpeg

"Let's give up convenience"

If you look at architecture as a part of a city, it will bear the convenience and efficiency of the city. Convenience and efficiency are the biggest advantages for the city, so there is no need to deny it, but if you go too far, you will be choked, so you want to adjust to moderate convenience and efficiency, so as a part of the city. I want to get out of the architecture of.

There are many things other than architecture that are responsible for the convenience and efficiency of the city, and is it too violent to leave it to them and stop the architecture from being responsible for the convenience and efficiency?

Architecture is by far the most abundant in the city, so its influence is immeasurable, but it makes us want to let go of convenience and efficiency.

AB59A74D-4113-4C77-A9FA-B2F2AF9C433E.jpeg

"Out of the rules"

City convenience is tied to city rules. Convenience cannot be achieved by itself, but comes from interconnected connections. If you look at the related connections relatively, it can be said that it is a rule of the city.

It is vulnerable as a city in a state where even one rule breaks down and convenience is impaired, but unexpectedly every city and Tokyo are vulnerable, and when it snows, it causes functional paralysis. Convenience is thin ice, but convenience is not impaired, but rather the city is built on the premise that it will become more convenient and more convenient in the future.

When considering architecture as a part of a large city as a whole, this premise cannot be resisted and it is naturally dyed. That is also a rule of the city, but I am wondering if it is possible to build a building that is different from convenience by deviating from the rule.

D45DAB98-4BAD-4F26-AF0E-88CEF65D3492.jpeg

"Make me want to stay in the city"

When I thought about the loss of convenience from the city, I came up with the idea of whether the attractiveness of the city would be halved. I think that the attraction of the city lies in its convenience. Of course, the charm of the city is not only convenience, but I think that all the charms are concentrated in convenience.

One of the conveniences may be the transportation network. In particular, I feel the benefits of railways every day. It's a selfish image, but I feel that a city that can be moved to some extent by rail, including the subway, can be called a city.

The labor and cost involved in moving people and goods is enormous, and since the place where it can be reduced is a city, people and goods will be concentrated.

It may not be possible to let go of convenience, but already our lives are always measured in the invisible area by the index of convenience, but we want to stay in the city even if it is not convenient. I'm sure there's something to do, so I'm not saying it's a culture, but I want to build it.

BFBD5688-4B02-4B12-8F85-F3B7F18A547C.jpeg

"Attractiveness of a city that gathers people"

There are various hierarchies in cities, but in a sense, the situation where transportation infrastructure is created first and prioritized is a typical hierarchy that can occur in any city.

The reason for being a city is that the transportation infrastructure is in place. Whether it's business, school, or living, you often move around, so it's more convenient and efficient to move over a wide area if you have a well-developed transportation infrastructure. Cities also have the synergistic effect of gathering people and creating culture naturally when people gather, which has resulted in people concentrating on the city until now.

However, when business, school, and life stayed in the same place and everything was covered, and the situation changed so that people did not have to move frequently, the transportation infrastructure that they used to have became unnecessary. Then, the reason why the city is a city is incapacitated, and the meaning of people being in the city may have become the reason that there is no other place to go.

That's why if a drone can handle both human flow and logistics, there is no need for transportation infrastructure itself. It may be a very extreme story, but if you can freely choose the place to live at that time, the existence of "city" itself and the word "city" itself may have disappeared at that time. Are you still in the city or are you attracted to the city?

The only attraction you may find is for what you already have, or for nostalgia for the past, and at that point there may be nothing for the future. It may be necessary to break away from the urban structure where transportation infrastructure is prioritized somewhere, but if there is a city that still holds, and a city where people gather, wondering what keeps people in the city. View.

People don't change so easily, so if there's an answer, I'm sure the seeds of that answer are already there, just ineffective and unnoticed. To find out, look at the city meta-wise, and look for something that is wasteful but not found in rural areas.

5F222361-2340-4BDA-B3A1-47FE0090ABAE.jpeg

"Looking at the weedy place"

Whether or not a building is built depends on whether the land is in contact with the road, so in urban areas, the building and the road are often considered as a set. In general, the direction in which the road touches the land has a considerable effect on the plan.

When the landscape changes due to the elevated railway, depending on the progress of the project, the building may be built before the road replacement due to eviction. The location of the road is fixed, but the place where weeds grow is likened to a road when planning. It's hard to imagine, but I'm thinking about what to do to realize a good environment in this situation.

765F0125-F4DD-4159-ABBE-B123229DC87D.jpeg

"Architecture first"

There is a rough order in the formation of cities, first large streets, roads and railroads are laid, roads are made to be further subdivided, and the places surrounded by streets and roads are made into public facility land or private land. , Eventually there will be a building there.

First, the transportation infrastructure is completed first. A city cannot be established by itself, and it is important to connect with other cities regardless of whether it is human flow or physical distribution. The city cannot live without the flow of people and things.

Therefore, in the formation of a city, first secure the flow. But sometimes the order is reversed. Buildings may be built first and roads may be built later. The place where it flows is decided, but the building is built before the flow is made.

When thinking about whether architecture can be established without the flow of roads, and what is the difference between architecture at that time compared to the case where there is a flow, the part fixed by the relationship between the city and architecture. Starts to move.

"Create"

Constraints are intentionally set to create freely. With total freedom, the next thing to do is to seek constraints, so you will not be able to create. Being conscious of creation to be free from restrictions. The knack of creation is to set constraints, which in other words may be common sense, customs, or challenges. In short, completely free creation is impossible in the first place, and from the opposite situation, there are always restrictions that are the seeds of creation, so you can always create depending on how you think about it. That is.

490EF2AE-EBB9-4C2A-99D8-57871C5F76EA.jpeg

"Black box"

The black-boxed ones, whose source is invisible, naturally arouse the imagination of people. The more you are interested in the inside of a black box, the more you want to know.

Not showing it may be part of the design. I am interested just because I do not understand the appearance of the design. In the first place, the architecture is judged based on the result of the finished product, so it is not necessary to know the dew, but when a person is shown something beyond imagination, why so naturally to match the tsuji in himself. I want to know if it will be, and I can't help but be convinced. If what I wanted to know at that time was black-boxed, it would be even more impressive. Therefore, it is important not to show it.

43D1B392-50F4-451C-BE74-5100750271B9.jpeg

"The part is extremely small"

There is a risk that too small parts may disappear, but if you gather a lot, you should be able to make a strong whole, and if you can make the whole, flexible movement and correspondence because of too small parts It will be possible.

If you do not want to create a hierarchy in the division of parts and the whole, you can divide it in parallel, but even in parallel, the scale of the divided parts creates directionality and stackability, which leads to hierarchy. In some cases.

In order to divide the parts into parts without any hierarchy, it is sufficient to make the parts extremely small so that the difference in scale becomes meaningless, but in that case, the parts become too small and the handling of the parts becomes complicated. , The difficulty of making the whole goes up.

In any case, if the part should be made extremely small, regardless of the scale of the building, the independent part guarantees the function, the part is lined up in parallel, and the part that is lined up in parallel is assembled. Can be shaped as.

8FB1E64D-A925-4FF0-A505-0901DEE58723.jpeg

"Small part and whole"

I think that it is more interesting to form an architecture as an independent part that guarantees the function, and that part is lined up in parallel, and a collection of the parts that are lined up in parallel is formed as an architecture, rather than an architecture in which the function is hierarchical and the whole is made. However, such architecture may be difficult without a certain scale.

However, let's think about whether it can be realized regardless of the scale, depending on how to grasp the part.

The fact that the scale is small naturally means that the part is also small. Since the part is small, I will recapture the part with a hint of the scale that seems to apply to the part. If you can grasp the part in that way, you can see the architecture as a whole.

D29C621F-AFB5-4419-8390-F1992230AC7B.jpeg

"Solution of feelings"

Everyone has a feeling, and there is always a part to carry it on their backs, and how to handle it and build and design it is the point of ingenuity every time, and at that time it is necessary to arbitrarily encourage the feelings and deal with it. Perhaps it is usually easy to accept, but that is equivalent to not being able to express anything as a design as an architecture, so a solution that can be considered as a general solution with a little more meta-thinking. Seeking a plan.

If you trace the origin of your thoughts, it will lead to a common understanding, and in many cases, architecture will be created using the direct solution of that common recognition, but at that time, few people doubt the common recognition itself. In doubt, there are architectural hints that I haven't seen yet, which leads to the possibilities of architecture in the next era, and at the same time, it also leads to the maximum acceptance of thoughts.

B33302C5-55DD-4AA5-8516-EED4A51E69E9.jpeg

"Architecture that creates events"

When you extract something from "living" and build it, the extraction is very small and may be fragmentary, very unsatisfactory to form the whole architecture, it is just a part. Maybe. No, if you want to extract something from "living" and build it, you need to keep the extracted part in the part, and even if it is a part, you should never form the whole architecture with it.

If the entire architecture is formed only from the "living", the architecture is nothing more than a daily necessities. Certainly, there are many people who think that architecture is a daily necessities because it is full of daily necessities, but people who live in architecture can only act as a part of daily necessities. , Living goods will be the main life.

The problem with architecture centered on the events that occur there rather than the center of things is that you can get anything, but the events that should happen do not occur. Yes, there is no communication that should be born through events, which exhausts people.

The architecture required at this moment is the one that creates the event, and it will be feasible only when the architecture is connected with the place other than "living".

808EF8B6-E2D6-4146-8304-90C3677F692A.jpeg

"Architecture of living"

Will the value of architecture be halved if it exists in connection with something other than architecture?

For example, in the case of a house, it is full of things that have nothing to do with architecture, and in a word, it may be "living", but architecture is just a box, a container, and the contents are related to architecture. If you think that you are filled with "living" that does not exist, architecture that matches "living" will appear.

The architecture in that case is not a pure architecture, but a part of "living", "living". Will the architecture at that time exceed the value of architecture in the pure sense? It will depend on what is extracted from "living" and built.

D7775990-9D9F-4797-97AA-1C7BC6EB2E57.jpeg

"Design abandonment"

The outline traces the outer shape of the building, but it also traces the shape that comes to human consciousness. When both match, the outline comes to mind as it is in human consciousness. The side that creates the contour tries to match. It is natural, but I will stop matching from the beginning and try to make the shape that appears in human consciousness different from the outline, do not control the shape, and leave it to human consciousness.

If design is about controlling the shape that comes to mind, you may abandon designing.

4F8A0DAE-6E0C-4D5D-AE83-D0F4FABC77C6.jpeg

"The contour changes"

Since the outline of the architecture itself is created by the architecture itself, there is no influence from others, and it is important how the shape of the architecture itself is, and I feel that it is the only thing, but if the outline of the architecture is influenced by others. I wondered what would happen if it could change.

One is that the contour itself does not change, but it is conceivable that the perception of the viewer will change in various ways, and the image of the contour received will change. The reason why consciousness changes variously is that each person receives it differently, because it can be received in any way in the first place.

Then, if such architecture has ever existed, if we look at history, there were architectures with organic contours, animal and plant contours, and so on. In that case, the outline would look different depending on the perspective and consciousness of the recipient.

5C5C4CA2-863E-400D-BDAF-3DBAD4015AEE.jpeg

"Outline crosses the boundary"

The roof cannot be seen up close, but it can be seen well from a distance. If you move away, the details will be blurred, and the outline that is the boundary with the sky will stand out. The contour is in the shape of the top, created by the roof. The outline of the roof, like an icon, represents the type of architecture. Some buildings do not have a roof, but the contours of the top are present. Not only architecture, but also highways and railroad tracks have contours if they run on the ground.

Isn't it surprisingly indifferent to the contours?

You may be particular about the finish of the appearance, but not the outline. I don't care about the details such as the finish, even if they are separated, even if they are separated. There are codes for improving the landscape such as color, height and green, but there is no code for contours.

If you want to influence beyond the boundaries of the site, you can look at the ones that make value judgments from a distance, and the outline will be an index for making one value judgment.

14848BE8-0541-44E1-A609-5001A3D5E67A.jpeg

"New skyline"

I always have the image of gently inserting it into the skyline. In the city, there is a skyline created by existing architecture, which is an everyday landscape, and one day when a building suddenly stands up, the feeling of strangeness is due to the change in the familiar skyline.

When the sky is blocked, the landscape is blocked, or when some architecture stands up, it can be an obstacle at the same time.

However, by gently inserting the new architecture into the skyline, we are planning to think that the newness that comes after the discomfort will upgrade the landscape.

CEAE8A88-37A7-4752-9E3F-03DFA5CB9FD5.jpeg

"Influence of small architecture"

Considering what will come from an overwhelmingly small-scale architectural plan as opposed to an overwhelmingly large-scale city plan, at least the site will spread ripples rather than being swallowed by the larger ones. I thought it might affect me beyond the boundaries.

It is a good example or a bad example that one small building has an influence and changes the atmosphere of the surrounding environment. The architecture at that time is often autonomous and strong. In other words, he has a strong assertion and expresses something strongly by himself.

However, it is also a fact that such autonomous architecture is gradually exhausted. The strength of assertion and the strength of expression will eventually become unsuitable for the times. The strength of the architecture at that time was only uncomfortable, but rather the strength of assertion and the strength of expression gave a sense of impasse.

Is the strength of autonomy the only source of influence beyond the boundaries of the site? It is a different story when it is not necessary to have influence, but when considering that it exerts more influence than autonomy by heteronomy, it has a different perspective in relation to the surrounding environment. I feel like a new relationship will be born.

01601D33-9C08-436D-A268-DCDBE899AD2C.jpeg

"Adapt"

The endless weedy green ground and asphalt, the railroad tracks on the sides, and the sky above us are already familiar to us as a landscape, but from here it changes to the point where there is no sign of the current landscape.

Insert new architecture in the early stages of that changing phase. Insert it so that it interrupts the boundary between the changing area and the remaining area, and the boundary of time.

Whether to continue to build with strong strength without change, or to adapt in the changing landscape. If you unravel the evolutionary process of living things, you will become acclimatized, so there is no choice but to adapt to have them continue to build for as long as possible.

A901CA55-E248-40B5-B57D-1C50E4D0FA66.jpeg

"Cut in the city"

By being gradually limited and narrowed like in the frame inside the frame, it is separated from the surroundings, and only that part emerges, but it is in the back, a place that is hard for human eyes to see. You can see it for a moment, an afterimage remains, and the next moment it looks different from another angle.

It may work on everyone to make an impression, but it may not be conscious of everyone.

I feel that it is just right for me to aim for an architecture that will remind me when I happen to be, as it becomes familiar in the city, forms the cityscape, and is engraved as a memory.

"Border as a frame"

There is the idea of the ground and the figure, but if you think of the boundary line of the site as a frame, you can think that you can find value in what happens within that frame because there is a frame.

The site boundary is a line that cannot be crossed like a barrier, and there is no way to draw a line that leads to value. It is simply decided in a place other than architecture, and the line is drawn. Therefore, the boundary line of the site is troublesome, but it is interesting to think that the boundary line of the site, which is the boundary, is regarded as a frame and that the value is created because there is a frame.

The boundary of the site is cramped, cannot be crossed, and does not create new value, but the moment I saw it as a frame, I felt the possibility.

3DCE5F2D-F23C-434C-AA5F-FF908B05FB9A.jpeg

"Inside the frame"

Something that suddenly comes to your consciousness will leave an impression on you. I suddenly start to notice what I can't see, which I don't usually care about.

What you can see when you look inside the frame is separated from the surroundings because it is bordered by the frame, and only that part is easy to remain in consciousness. Something may trigger that part to become conscious.

By intentionally creating frames, picture frames, and frames, we create individual values by separating them from the surroundings. And then hide the resulting value. By hiding, an afterimage remains and is engraved in the consciousness.

"The window you want to see inside"

We are trying to provide the largest opening. I am trying to make the windows as large as possible with the intention of showing the inside of the store more.

If you want to see more inside, you might think that you should use full glass instead of windows, but I think that a wall made of transparent glass is the same as an opaque wall. Only the difference between transparent and opaque, even if it is transparent and the inside is completely visible, it is treated the same as an opaque finish and is only recognized as a wall, and there is no awareness that the inside can be seen.

If you want to see more inside, you need a frame. A frame called a window frame is a device that connects to the contents, and what you see inside the window is automatically recognized as the contents.

If you want a glass finish, you can make a wall with only transparent glass, but if you want to see more inside, you can make a large window.

55181640-3174-48FC-AC26-1A93899AB45D.jpeg

"Width of expression method"

When the durability of the material increases, another expression method comes to mind. There are two ways to ensure durability, and I feel that the former is overwhelmingly large, depending on whether the surface of the material is coated or the durability of the material itself is increased. This is because it is easier and cheaper.

However, when coating the surface, the coating materials that can be selected are limited, there is no unexpected variation, and if the durability of the material itself is improved, the coating materials that can be selected, that is, the finish, will increase considerably, and the range of expression methods will expand.

Currently, we are considering the material for the opening, which is a trade-off with cost, but it may be possible to express it like never before.

CA8B5567-C6A2-4B54-94D4-1555420F6585.jpeg

"A lot of information"

A large amount of information is not always complicated. There are cases where complicated things and a lot of chaotic information are hidden in the simple, and in such cases it is seemingly simple, the amount of information is moderately controlled by the amount of hidden information, and the amount of information is large. But it doesn't get complicated. It may be common in modernist architecture.

In terms of the amount of information, all good architecture has a lot of information. The rest is how to express the large amount of information, whether to hide the large amount of information, to express it in the foreground, to show a flickering, it depends on the times and trends. ..

F8A8FB8A-1F78-4E25-A982-A247DFE3B42D.jpeg

"Tempting architecture"

The only way to get attention is to increase the amount of information. The amount of information matches a person's activity. This is a finishing story, and you can expect the finish of the appearance from a distance, and if you look closely and check it, the amount of information is small. The fact that the distant view and the near view look the same means that the amount of information that the appearance gives to a person is infinitely close to zero, and the activity that the person bothers to approach is not induced.

The appearance with a lot of information may look different between the distant view and the near view, or the near view has a different expression. People's activities are triggered simply by the difference in appearance between the distant view and the near view. Architecture is not only what you see and use, but also what tempts people.

EA1A1090-5D10-4AF5-B548-A2182E320126.jpeg

"Relationship design"

I don't think there will be any new influence when considering design in relationships. In the first place, manufacturing on the premise that there is a relationship is something that takes into account the influence from the beginning, and it is like creating a problem by thinking about the answer, and the influence has no freshness at all.

However, what appears in the relationship is after all the adjustments have been made, so there will be a sense of security and stability.

The deeper the relationship, the more it fits into the frame of the relationship. To escape from it, one must always look outside the relationship, which can be conscious, but it must be completely separate from the existing relationship.

1BA0C282-D929-42D9-A71F-29FF62386513.jpeg

"Creating a shortage"

If you turn your consciousness outward, you will not be able to see your surroundings, but if you turn your consciousness inward, your surroundings will be related to nature. If you try to stay in the internal space so that it closes, you will naturally be aware of the distance to the surroundings. You can have a relationship when you are conscious.

In order to build a relationship with the surrounding environment, a complete interior space, that is, a space where you can be alone, is sufficient. When there, people naturally try to make up for the shortages that are not in front of them in their heads. Creating a shortage, incomplete state, or situation is a source of conscious connection with the surrounding environment. It may be necessary in the city.

EE139240-A0AF-49DD-96ED-92789037BDEC.jpeg

"Inner dew"

I always want to create a place where the inside of a person appears, and if it is an interior space, I want to design something that induces the exposure of the inside of a person.

The same is true for the external space, but in the case of the external space, it is necessary to consider the influence on the surrounding environment and the influence from the surrounding environment. I want to induce the dew on the inside of the.

4909CC37-C65C-4E45-B740-A84F7FBFD643.jpeg

"Leave it to the terrain"

If it seems interesting to leave it to the terrain, it is an attempt to get a hint in something completely different from the self, and since it is not a program of direct request, it is not tied up. It is easy to handle because it can be processed as you like, and yet the individuality of being built on the land is guaranteed, so it is interesting to be able to create a state that is both heteronomous and autonomous.

Hopefully, if the process is such that the architecture comes first and the terrain is created later, then there is a way to create the terrain later, because it is also possible to make the terrain into a terrain. I want to make.

With BIM, even the terrain can be made into an object and can be regarded as an extension of the architectural model, so the rest is what to do in the real world.
