中庭は何か
コートハウスの中庭は外なのか中なのか。どちらにでもなり得る。関連付けをどうするかの問題である。では選択肢は外と中だけだろうか、と考えたくなる。
コートハウスは世界中で環境や地域を問わずに見られる形式であり、それだけコートハウスという形式には普遍性があるのだろう。しかし、皆同じという訳では無い。中庭の役割が環境や地域によって違う。中庭に何を求めるか、何を関連付けるかに依る。何を求め、何を関連付けか次第で外でも中でも無い、あるいは外でも中でもある、そのような二面性、両義性、あるいは渾然一体となった中庸な場所ができると考えてみた。
