差異をデザインする
余白のある状態、茶室の床の間であったり、仏様のお顔であったり、それは何も無い状態ではなく、そこに確固としたものが有りながら、手を加えることができたり、こちらの都合でいかようにも解釈できる状態で、汎用性が高いのか、曖昧なのか、中庸なのか。
気分に追従する建築ならば、仏様のお顔のように、こちらの気分でいかようにも解釈できる空間をつくりたい。
仏様が例えば、大日如来ならば、どういうお顔かは決まっているが、作者によって少しずつ違っているはずで、顔の輪郭に膨らみがあるとか、目が細いとか、顔の角度も違うかもしれない。そのような差異が積み重なって、こちらの気分次第でいかようにも解釈できるお顔になっているのかもしれない。
それは、標準的な大日如来のお顔があるとしたら、その標準的なお顔より何かちょっと、不自然まではいかないが、微妙に違っていたり、ズレていたり、間延びしていたりして、人が思い描く大日如来のお顔とは、それも人それぞれ違うかもしれないが、何か違うように思えるから、その差異の部分が気分によって、笑って見えたり、怒って見えたり、悲しんで見えたり、いかようにも解釈できる所になるのかもしれない。
その差異のつくりは作者自身に委ねられている所であり、その差異が余白なのだろう。
ならば、気分に追従する建築は、人が思い描く空間と実際の空間との間に差異をつくり出し、その差異のつくり方次第というか、その差異をデザインすることで実現可能になるのではないか。
