「どこにでもある」のに「ここにしかない」という分裂を意図してつくり出しスタバは特別感を生んでいるという記事を見た。「どこにでもある」は安心感、信頼感を生むが、それだけでは人はいずれ興味を無くすし飽きる。「ここにしかない」は希少性を生み、もしかしたら良い意味での反社会性を帯びて大事にされるかもしれないが、そこにしかない不便さは大多数の支持を得られないだろう。「どこにでもある」安心感と「ここにしかない」希少性は本来矛盾して両立はしないはずである。それが両立している背景を考えてみる。

「どこにでもある」は店舗数の多さで実現できる。「ここにしかない」は本来ならばここでしかできない体験が必要になるだろう。それにはイメージも伴うのかもしれない。元々スタバは「サードプレイス」がコンセプトだから「ここにしかない」という希少性を演出できていないと「サードプレイス」として認識されない。だから、スタバは「安心の希少性」というものを演出してつくり出していることになる。確かに「安心の希少性」はなかなかつくり出せないから差別化にはなり、店舗数も増やすことができるという好循環が生まる。

ただ「安心の希少性」は下手をすると中途半端な甘いものになる可能性があるような気がする。それは「安心の希少性」が両極端のものの組合せで中和され角が取れて丸くなったような状態だからである。しかし、この丸くなった状態が丁度良く、たくさんの人に支持される理由にもつながるとも言えるのだろう。

However, I feel that "reliable rarity" may become a half-hearted sweetness if done poorly. This is because the "rarity of peace of mind" is neutralized by the combination of extremes, and the corners have been removed and rounded. However, it can be said that this rounded shape is just right and is also the reason why it is supported by many people.
