緑から虐げられる存在
この季節は雑草との闘いを何度かする。最近は諦めていて邪魔にならなければいいと思っている。庭木も剪定しないと伸び放題、特にオリーブの木は成長が早いから、今年も見事な実をたくさんつけた。全部集めて搾ったらいいオリーブオイルができそうだ。草木と戯れていると案外楽しくて、面倒くさいし暑いから滅多にやらないが、やると夢中になって一日中戯れていても苦にならないし、雑草取りや剪定をやった後はマジマジと見てしまう。ほんと緑は不思議なもので、雑草が伸び放題だが目に優しいというか、緑が溢れる姿はなんとなく好きで、そんなにきちんとする必要がないというかそのままがいいと思ってしまう。だからか草木に侵食されたような建築は好きなのだが、はじめからそのような建築をデザインしたいと思わない。緑や自然はコントロールできない存在で、建築はあくまでもその緑や自然に負ける存在で、デザインすることは自然をコントロールしようとする行為だから、唯一できるのは緑や自然から邪魔な存在だと虐げられるようにするくらいである。

Maybe that's why I like architecture that looks like it's been eroded by plants, but I don't want to design that kind of architecture from the beginning.
