"Shape determines space"

Intentionally create a difference in scale. For example, two scale feelings exist, and the two scale feelings are placed in contact with each other so that the difference can be clearly seen. A shape is given to make the two scale feelings visible, and the shape expresses the difference in scale feeling, and by continuing the shapes, the difference in scale feeling becomes the boundary and the area for each scale is determined, and the shape The continuation of the above takes on other roles and secures the function as an architecture.

Since the area is determined by the continuity of the scale feeling, the shape determines the area, that is, the space.

"The wall does not determine the space"

The sense of scale is literally invisible to the eye, but the difference in sense of scale can be expressed by the difference in appearance. What we are paying attention to is the point of contact between objects with different scale feelings, which may be tangent, but there is a sensuous difference in scale feeling, and that feeling is strange, and that feeling of strangeness. The connection is a boundary, and the series of differences in the sense of scale is also visually expressed, and the part surrounded by the boundary is recognized as one area.

In other words, the scale creates one area. There are no walls there, they are visually connected, but you can create a state where you can feel the boundaries clearly.

Then, what kind of scale is created leads to what kind of area is created, and I think that creating a wall can be rephrased as an area, which can be rephrased as a space, so the space is not decided.

"Aiming for a relationship with emotions"

Since architecture is a thing, what it should be as a thing is asked. Other than architecture, such as what it is aesthetically as a thing, what kind of position it is in society as a thing, what kind of interpretation it is in thinking as a thing, what it should be in the natural environment as a thing, etc. It has various aspects like the ones in the world, and when building an architecture, what to focus on rather than what to choose from them, everything is necessary and only how much. Then, it becomes an imperfect object, so change the specific gravity in a well-balanced manner to emphasize the important points.

There is a feeling that architecture is something that people are inside, which cannot be cut by any means. This is different from non-architectural objects, and it is the most characteristic feature of architecture, the reason for architecture, and it is a work without people.

When there is a person, people have emotions, and the relationship between those emotions and architecture is born. In architecture as a thing, it is assumed that there is no relation to this person's emotions. I think it is unnatural, so I aim to cherish and emphasize the relationship between human emotions and architecture.

67A18EF2-30E4-426F-B90F-44A10B30C071.jpeg

"Target"

Insert a small building into a long and narrow site, surrounding vacant lots, continuous open spaces, and terrain created by eviction due to the elevation of private railways.

It's a single purpose, one room space, a small one-story building, and I even wonder if it can be achieved simply by putting a roof on the terrain. Everything is accessible, accessible, and fitable.

When the scale is large, I feel that various attempts are possible, and when the scale is small, I feel that various attempts are impossible because of the restrictions.

In reality, there are many things that can be done because it is small, but to do so, it is necessary to focus on one thing that is convincing, not this or that.

CC0F3DAA-6F2A-444A-A140-AA6426153AE8.jpeg

"In search of movement in architecture"

If the architecture moves squishy, I want to move it according to the mood of the day. It would be fun if we could change the shape depending on the battle situation like a transformation robot.

Architecture that looks squishy was once popular for a period of time. The appearance of the building was about to collapse due to an earthquake, and such a building was called deconstructivist or deconstructivist architecture, and the appearance of the building stopped the collapse for a moment ..

Since it is a major premise that architecture does not move, attempts to create a new space by seeking movement there have been from the early days of modernism, and it is an effective approach even in modern times, to manipulate the scale of architecture. want to create movement and territory.

5174BA4A-04BA-4133-9567-C04CEF48F3FF.jpeg

"Depends on mood and emotion"

You will often experience the difference in the world you see when you feel good and when you feel bad. If you feel good, you can look up at the sky for no reason, look at every corner of the sky, and the scenery around you naturally jumps into your eyes and notices various things, but when you feel sick, the same thing Even if I look at it, I don't notice anything, and on the contrary, I get a bad influence from the people around me.

Moods and emotions change the environment around you. In reality, nothing changes, but moods and emotions determine how to interpret and receive the environment surrounding you.

If architecture exists only as an object, it is always the same regardless of mood or emotion, but if architecture exists as something that people use, mood or emotion changes the interpretation or reception of architecture. It's natural.

The change in the interpretation and reception of architecture means that, as mentioned earlier, the architecture itself may exist only as an object, and the rest is a matter for the interpreter and recipient of the architecture. Until now, it has been rare for architecture to deal directly with moods and emotions because it is possible.

If we focus on architecture as something that people use, we cannot ignore moods and emotions, and it is impossible to keep moods and emotions only in the interpretation and manifestation of how we receive them. I thought it was natural to change the way it looks.

469B0C93-48D2-4709-9C62-083BDD9B7167.jpeg

"The contents are exposed"

If you think about architecture on a scale, first of all, the scale of architecture exists in the scale of the city, and since the scales of the city and the architecture are different, the area of architecture appears in the city like ripples on the surface of the water.

The exodermis of the building exists to make the area visible, and the exodermis makes you feel the scale, but even if the exodermis is peeled off, the contents express the scale.

I haven't seen architecture without exodermis, but if it can be seen as having no exodermis or without exodermis, it may be a new way of looking at architecture.

Architecture without an exodermis is a state in which the contents are exposed to the city as it is, and if it is established as it is, the contents and the city will be directly connected, which is more interesting as an architecture than without an exodermis.
