設計する時は今この時だから、必ず未来を考えることになり、未来を考えるために過去に遡ることもある。まだ何もない未来のことを考えるのだから当然想像力がないとできないが、過去に遡ることも全てがわかっている訳ではないから想像力かいる。

今この時を基準に未来や過去は、両方とも想像力がいるのだから、今この時だけ想像力なしに目に見える現実だけが全てということはないだろう。

"Imagination of time"

Since it is this time to design, we always think about the future, and sometimes we go back to the past to think about the future. Of course, I can't do it without imagination because I think about the future when there is nothing yet, but I have imagination because I don't know everything going back to the past.

Since both the future and the past have imagination based on this time, it is unlikely that the reality that can be seen without imagination is all.

時間の経過を建築デザインで表現するものだろうかと素直に疑問に思った。記憶としての時間経過を建築デザインに生かす試みは素晴らしい事例もたくさんあるのだが、その場合の記憶は誰もが印象的に思うことであり、そもそも特徴的である場合が多い。

日常的で普通なこと、そして、普通に起きる時間の経過を記憶として建築デザインに生かすを考えていた時に、それが当たり前過ぎていたことに疑問を持った。

"I doubt the expression of the passage of time"

I honestly wondered if the passage of time would be expressed in architectural design. There are many wonderful examples of attempts to utilize the passage of time as a memory in architectural design, but the memory in that case is something that everyone thinks impressively, and it is often characteristic in the first place.

I was skeptical that it was too commonplace when I was thinking about using everyday and ordinary things and the passage of time that normally occurs in architectural design as a memory.

今まで建築とは全く関連性がないことで成り立つ建築を想像してみる。人以外で建築と関連性があることは何があるだろうかと考えてみる。そうしたら、ふと思い浮かんだ建築があった、カーンのインド経営大学である。25年くらい前に訪れた時、よく理解できなくて、未だによくわからない建築だが、感じるのは人とは関係なしに建築そのものに宿る何かがあることで、その何かが説明できないし、わからないのだが、それを25年経った今この時の言葉で表現を試みれば、これまでとは違う建築との関わり方ができそうな気がする。

"Different ways of getting involved"

Then, there was an architecture that came to my mind, Khan's Indian Institute of Management. When I visited about 25 years ago, I couldn't understand the architecture well, and I still don't understand it, but what I feel is that there is something in the architecture itself that has nothing to do with people, and I can't explain or understand that. However, 25 years later, if I try to express it in the words of this time, I feel that I will be able to relate to architecture differently than before.

I've been thinking in the category of thinking for a long time, so I haven't linked it to something that has nothing to do with the outside of architecture, and I didn't know how to connect it.

人によって強度が上がった建築は、人とは関係なしに建築単体で成り立つようになる。

人と関係ないところで建築が成り立つ様をイメージしてみる。そうすると今まで人が登場しない建築を想像したことが無いことに気がついた。

人が登場しないということは、人がいなくても建築が成り立つということだが、その昔、インドで見たタージマハルを思い出す。観光客はたくさんいたが、建築自体は贅の限りを尽くしたもので、建築というよりは美術工芸品で鑑賞するためのもので、そこに人がいる必要もなく、ただ眺めるだけのもので、建築というには違和感があった。

今度は、美術工芸品となる建築以外で、人が登場しない建築が成り立つだろうかと考えてみる。

"Architecture without people"

Imagine that architecture is established in a place that has nothing to do with people. Then I realized that I had never imagined an architecture in which no one appeared.

The fact that no one appears means that architecture can be established without people, but I remember the Taj Mahal I saw in India a long time ago. There were a lot of tourists, but the architecture itself was a luxury, it was more for arts and crafts than architecture, there was no need for people to be there, it was just for viewing. There was a sense of discomfort in architecture.

Next time, I wonder if there will be an architecture in which no one appears, other than the architecture that becomes an arts and crafts.
