ヴォリュームが感性をつくる
ヴォリュームに対して大小の尺度で考えるのが建築では当たり前である。建築は人を内包することで定義されるようなものだから、人がどのように内包されるかの尺度のひとつがヴォリュームで、スケール感という言葉があるように大小をみる。
ヴォリュームの大小は当然数値に影響を与えるが、それだけではなく人の感性にも影響を与える。建築に限らず人の尺度を超えるヴォリュームのものを目の前にした時、人はそのヴォリュームに対して感性が動く。その時の感性は畏敬の念かもしれないし、崇高かもしれないし、驚きかもしれない。自身のヴォリュームとの差を埋める何かを感性でつくり出す。
"Volume creates sensibility"
It is natural in architecture to think about the volume on a large or small scale. Architecture is something that is defined by the inclusion of people, so one of the measures of how people are included is volume, and we look at the size as if there is a word of scale.
The size of the volume naturally affects the numerical value, but it also affects the human sensibility. People move their sensibilities to the volume when they see something in front of them that exceeds the scale of human beings, not limited to architecture. The sensibility at that time may be awe, sublime, or surprise. Create something with sensibility that fills the gap with your own volume.
