"Convert form and function"

There is a word "form follows function". Sullivan's words, combined with the simple form of modernism, are unknowingly cursed.

I have a dislike for the aftereffects of postmodernism, meaningless, unintentional, and additional forms, and although I am not particularly conscious of them, I am attracted to the flow of "forms follow function" and architectural planning. Also, they often feel inconvenient in form.

I wasn't very interested in renovation. I was interested in creating something from scratch, and I felt that modifying something that was originally there would limit my creativity. The other day, conversion was the theme at a symposium of an academic society. I understood that conversion is a kind of renovation by diverting functions, so I was not very interested in it, but many cases at the symposium were interesting.

An example of conversion that immediately comes to mind is the Tate Modern in England, which is a power plant converted into a museum, and a large turbine room is ideal for displaying large works of art. As I knew from before, the form becomes a power plant and the function becomes a museum, and by setting the diversion, it easily overcomes the wall of "form follows function".

Some architects set up a diversion once and then conceive a new architecture, and "conversion" is linked to ecology and is probably one of the main themes of this era, and it is an exciting word that shakes the relationship between form and function. Is.
