常に空間に囲まれている。建築を考える時、空間に注目するか、物に注目するかの2通りある。

それは建築を空間として捉えるか、物として捉えるかの違いであり、空間として捉える場合は建築内部に空虚な部分があり、その空虚な部分が人を内包できる位に大きいので、建築は人の影響を受けるという考え方である。

一方、物として捉える場合は建築はひとつの塊として捉え、その塊をどのようにつくるか、どのように置くかが重要であり、それによって周りの環境や人にどのような影響を与えるかが主題になる。

どちらが良いかではなく、時代によって流行り廃りはあるが、基本的には歴史上どちらかが優位になることを繰り返してきた。

別の言い方をすると、人が影響を与えるか、人に影響を与えるかの違いである。良い建築を見て感動する場合は人に影響を与えることになるので、物としての建築が優位になり魅力的に見えるが、人無しで成立するものは建築以外でも、工作物でも、美術品でもあり得るので、人が影響を与える建築、すなわち空間として捉える方が建築独自のものが表現できると考えている。

On the other hand, when considering it as an object, architecture is regarded as one mass, and how to make the mass and how to place it are important, and how it affects the surrounding environment and people. Become a subject.

It is not which one is better, but it has become fashionable and obsolete depending on the times, but basically, it has been repeated that either one has an advantage in history.

In other words, it is the difference between a person's influence and a person's influence. If you are impressed by seeing a good architecture, it will affect people, so architecture as a thing will be superior and look attractive, but what can be established without people is not only architecture, but also works of art. However, since it is possible, I think that it is possible to express something unique to architecture by considering it as an architecture that people influence, that is, a space.

狭い空間では求められる機能を頼りにデザインをしていたら似たり寄ったりになる。

機能を頼りにデザインをすることはデザインに明確な根拠を与え、恣意的という批判を安易にかわすことができるので多用されやすい。しかし、狭い空間では機能が限定されバリエーションが無くなるので似たり寄ったりを招く。

だから、むしろ機能とは関係が無いところでデザインをする。それはもしかしたら人の内面に直接働きかけることになり、人のウォンツを引き出すかもしれない。

Designing by relying on function gives a clear basis to the design, and it is easy to avoid criticism that it is arbitrary, so it is easy to be used frequently. However, in a narrow space, the functions are limited and there are no variations, which leads to similarities.

Therefore, rather, design in a place that has nothing to do with the function. It may work directly on the inside of the person and may bring out the wants of the person.

時を経て前の建築とつながろうとする時に齟齬が起きそうなところに注目してみようと考えた。

前の建築とこれから現れる建築は同じ場所に建つので同じような特徴を持つが同時に全く違う要素も持ち合わせる。全く違う要素は齟齬を起こすが、その場所での可能性につながると考えた。

定まらないから全く違う要素になるのであり、定まらないことに可能性を感じる。

I decided to pay attention to the place where a discrepancy might occur when trying to connect with the previous architecture over time.

The previous architecture and the one that will appear in the future will be built in the same place, so they have similar characteristics but at the same time have completely different elements. A completely different element causes a discrepancy, but I thought it would lead to possibilities in that place.

Since it is not decided, it will be a completely different element, and I feel the possibility of not being decided.

時を経て前の建築とつながることで魅力的な空間ができないかと考えている。現在これから魅力的な空間をつくろうとする時に前の建築とつながる必要は無いから、スクラップアンドビルドが普通に行われるが、それでは時間と記憶と愛着の断絶が起こってしまう。

時間と記憶と愛着をつなぐのが建築の役割であって欲しいので、つなぐための手法をいろいろと考えている。

抽出するのは密度であり、抽出したものは単なる模様として意味を剥奪し、全く違った意味を付着させる。

時がズレており決して交わることが無かったプラン同士を重ねてみた時、そこにつながりを見つけるために重なりの密度に着目し、そこから俯瞰して模様として全体を見ることにした。

模様として全体を俯瞰することは元々の意味を無いことにし、新たな意味で捉え直すことであり、その新たな意味が新たな空間を生むだろう。

When I tried to stack plans that never intersected due to the time lag, I focused on the density of overlap in order to find a connection there, and decided to take a bird's-eye view of the whole as a pattern.

Taking a bird's-eye view of the whole as a pattern has no original meaning and is to be reconsidered in a new meaning, and that new meaning will create a new space.

現在の建築のプランと前回の建築のプランを重ねてみた。何度か増改築を繰り返しているので柱の位置が同じ所もあり、また重ねたことにより壁の密度の差がよりはっきりと出た。

壁の密度が高い所は細かく仕切られた空間が集まっており、密度が低い所は仕切られていない空間の集まりである。

重ねることでより顕著になる壁の密度の差は、その場所での建ち方の傾向を表現している。

建築は人を内包する規模のものであるから影響力がある。だから、断絶しない、つながりをつくることが様々なことに良い影響を与えると考えている。

Architecture is influential because it is of a scale that embraces people. Therefore, I think that making connections without breaking has a positive effect on various things.
