気分を盛り込む
何でもあり、何をつくってもよいし、何をしてもよい、漆器で木地からつくることができれば可能。
漆器の木地屋さんには4種類あるらしい。お椀などをつくる椀木地、お盆などをつくる曲物木地、お重などをつくる指物木地、仏具などをつくる朴(ほう)木地。
何でもありで自由につくってよい、普段、建築では与条件として要望や予算、期間などがあり、あとは大体おまかせになる。あとは「仲村さんにおまかせします、自由にやってください」とは言え、当たり前だけと、全くの自由ではなく、提案し、すり寄せ、また提案が何度かある。それでも、おまかせと言ってもらえるのはありがたいので、やりがいは感じるが、もっとこうしたい、もっとこうできればの想いは多少なりともいつも残る。
だが、この漆器づくりはクライアントは自分なので、何の制限もない、何をしてもよい。自分のためだけにやればよい。
輪島で輪島塗の漆器をつくる、決まっているのはこれだけ、自由度は最高に高い。この自由度の高さが重要で、私が一番望んでいたこと。
自分と対話し、自分が欲しているものを、自分が好きなように形にする。ずっと建築を通してものづくりをしてきたけれども、ここまで自由度が高い経験はない。この経験をしたかった。後にこの経験を生かす場面が訪れる予定もあるので。
ただ、自由が高いが故に、何を手がかりにはじめるかが重要で、迷うところ。
まず何をつくるか。用途はカップに、ほぼ毎朝、コーヒーを豆から挽いて飲むし、ビールが好きだしで、フリーカップにしようと決めた。
亡くなってしまったが柳宗理というデザイナーがいた。食器、カトラリー、調理道具、家具、駅のベンチ、高速道路の料金所までデザインしていて、私は柳宗理がデザインしたものが大好きで、普段使いに食器やカトラリー、調理道具に、家具と結構家の中にある。
私が柳宗理を好きになったきっかけがマグカップのデザインの話だった。飲む時にカップの縁と唇が当たる感触がよくなるように、何度も試作を繰り返して、マグカップのデザインを決めたという。
マグカップのデザインを決める判断基準が唇の感触だったことに、当時20代の私は衝撃を受けた。触った感触は後の話で、ものとして形があり、素材があり、見た目があり、それで完結していて、使いやすさという尺度はあるだろうけど、使っている最中の感触までデザインとして捉えるということは範疇になかったから。
このことがずっと頭の中にあったから、フリーカップをつくる時の手がかりは感触にしようと考えていたし、私なりに飲み口の唇の感触をデザインに取り込もうと考えた。
毎朝、コーヒーを淹れる時に、コーヒーカップをその日の気分で選んでいる。天気がよい気持ちいい朝だからこれかな、ちょっとお疲れ気味だからこれかな、今日はゆったりと飲みたいからこれかな、という感じで、カップ選びも楽しみのひとつ。
ならば、気分という尺度をデザインに取り込もう。
感触にプラス気分を盛り込む。人は結構気分に左右されるのに、ものづくりとしては案外気分を排除して考えているのでは。ものづくりは人に対して行われるから、対象として参照する人がコロコロ気分で変わってしまっては、気分に対応して変化できないモノは困る。
フリーカップのデザインについて、頭の中で最初に決めたことは、
飲み口の厚みを変えて、その日の気分によって、飲む位置を変えられるように、
でした。飲み口の厚みを変えれば、当然、飲んだ時の唇の感触も変わるはずだし、コーヒーやビール、お茶など、熱い冷たいによっても飲み口の厚みが違う方がよいのではないか、と考えた。感触のよさに、気分という変化を許容できるものを盛り込む。
これがができあがった木地の飲み口です。
ただ、これだけではフリーカップのデザインを決めるには足らないと考え、この飲み口の厚みの変え方がフリーカップ全体のデザインと連動して一体化していないと、それが次の課題でした。

Still, I am thankful that I can say it as Random, so I feel challenging but I want to do more, more I always have my feelings somewhat.
However, since this client is myself in making this lacquerware, there is no limitation and anything can be done. You can do it only for yourself.
The only thing that has been decided to make Wajima lacquer lacquerware in Wajima is the highest degree of freedom. The high degree of freedom is important, what I most wanted.
Dialogue with myself and shape what you want as if you like. Although I have been making things through architecture forever, I have never experienced a high degree of freedom. I wanted this experience. There are scenarios that will make use of this experience later.
However, because freedom is high, it is important to know what to start with clues, where to get lost.
First of all, what will you make? I used to drink coffee from beans and drink almost every morning in cup, I decided to make free cup because I like beer.
Although I died, there was a designer named Mr. Yanagi. I designed dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, furniture, station benches, highway toll gates, I love what Sosaki Yan designed, and I regularly use dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, furniture and fine house It is in.
The reason I became fond of Mr. Yori Shigeru was the story of the design of the mug. He said that he decided the design of the mug by repeating prototyping repeatedly so that the feeling of hitting the edge and lips of the cup when drinking was good.
I was shocked when I was in my twenties at the time that the judgment criteria for deciding the design of the mug was lip feeling. The touch which I touched is a later story, there is a shape as a thing, a material, an appearance, it is completed and there will be a measure of ease of use, but until the feeling while using it as a design It was not in the category to capture it.
Because this was always in my mind, I thought about making clues when making a free cup feel, and I thought that I would like to incorporate the feel of the lip of the drinking mouth into the design.
Every morning, when I brew coffee, I have chosen a cup of coffee for the day. Because the weather is nice and comfortable morning, I guess this is kind of a bit tired, so I guess this is something I want to drink relaxed today, so I feel like this, I also enjoy cup selection.
Then, let's incorporate the measure of mood in the design.
Add a positive feeling to the feel. People are pretty much affected by the mood, but as manufacturing, we are thinking about removing the unexpected mood. Monozukuri is done to people, so if people refer to them as objects, they change with moods, and things that can not be changed in response to their moods are in trouble.
About the design of the free cup, the first decision in my mind was,
Changing the thickness of the drinking mouth, so that you can change the drinking position by the mood of the day,
was. If you change the thickness of the drinking mouth, of course, the feeling of the lip when drinking should change as well, and I thought that it would be better if the thickness of the drinking mouth is different depending on hot and cold, such as coffee, beer, tea etc. . To the good feeling, incorporate what can tolerate the change of mood.
This is the drinking mouth of the woodland which was completed.
However, thinking that this alone is not enough to decide the design of a free cup, if the way of changing the thickness of this drinking mouth was not integrated with the design of the entire free cup, that was the next task.
