建築することを意識して浮かび上がる周辺環境のコンテクストに影響された建築が、今度はその内部空間のコンテクストとして影響を与えることは、周辺環境のコンテクストを書き換えることになると考えた。
鉄道高架のための立ち退きでできた細長い変形地は、見渡す限り延々と続く更地の一部を形成しており、この延々と続く様は、今後風景が変わっても残り続けることので、現在から未来への時間のコンテクストとして抽出できる。
この延々と続く様を建築的に表現し、その内部空間では延々と続く様の対比が繰り広げられる。なぜ対比か、それはこの非人間的な論理で構築された風景への違和感から、抽出したコンテクストを一欠片も残したくない、ただしかし抽出したコンテクストと関連づけて時間的連続性は担保して、この内部空間が恣意的なものではないと表明したいからである。
