何かする空間で構成するのが建築だとしたら、何もしない空間は建築以外の空間になる。工作物は除くとして建築以外の空間を都市空間の中で探すと、やはり同じ敷地内での余白の空間というか建築以外の外部空間を指すことになるだろう。

いつも思うことだが、敷地内での建築以外の外部空間
をどのように扱うによって建築の見え方に差が出る。もしかしたら、何もしない空間として外部空間を捉え直してみると何か違った見え方が現れるかもしれない。

If architecture is composed of a space that does something, a space that does nothing is a space other than architecture. If you look for a space other than architecture in the urban space, excluding the works, you will probably refer to the space in the margin on the same site or the external space other than architecture.

隙間を空けるように何もしない空間をつくりたいと考えている。建築は基本的に何かをする空間の集合であり、何もしない空間はない。何もしない空間とは無駄な空間ではなく、何もしなくていい空間であり、何かをする空間を切断するように配置することにより、何かをする空間の複雑性を上げることになる。

何かをする空間だけだと全体が常に動的であり、人はそこまで動的であり続けることはできないので、適度に静的な何もしない空間を必要とする。

静的な何もしない空間は時間の流れとは関係なく存在し、時間の流れと呼応する何かする空間と対局になるが、日常の中で起きる時間感覚の歪みを矯正してくれる。

A space that does nothing is not a wasteful space, but a space that does not need to do anything, and by arranging it so as to cut off the space that does something, the complexity of the space that does something increases.

The whole thing is always dynamic if it's just a space to do something, and people can't stay that dynamic, so we need a reasonably static space to do nothing.

A static space that does nothing exists regardless of the flow of time, and it plays against a space that does something in response to the flow of time, but it corrects the distortion of the sense of time that occurs in everyday life.

スケール感と何かを組み合わせたら、もっと違った見え方が生まれるかもしれないと探っている。

建築の大きさに対して敷地が大きく、その敷地の中に複数の建築を建てる場合、建築同士のスケール感の取り合いが自然に生まれる。ただ、その建築のスケール感は取り合いを優先して決めることがなかなかできない。様々な与条件を満たした上でのスケール感になる場合が多いから、何かスケール感以外のものと組み合わせて、スケール感を優先してコントロールし、見え方に影響を与えたい。

スケール感は感覚であり目で見ることができず意識しないとわからないという側面もあるから、組み合わせるものは意識せずとも見えるものがいいかもしれない。さらに全く逆のものや一見あり得ないようなものを組み合わせた方が何か新しい見え方が生まれるかもしれない。

The site is large compared to the size of the building, and when multiple buildings are built on the site, a sense of scale between the buildings is naturally created. However, it is difficult to prioritize the scale of the architecture. In many cases, the feeling of scale will be obtained after satisfying various given conditions, so I would like to combine it with something other than the feeling of scale to prioritize control of the feeling of scale and affect the appearance.

The sense of scale is a sensation, and there is also the aspect that it cannot be seen with the eyes and cannot be understood without consciousness, so it may be better to combine things that can be seen without being conscious. Furthermore, a new look may be created by combining the completely opposite or seemingly impossible.

重さとスケールに関係はあるだろうか。建築は重いが見た目を重厚や軽快に見せることで重さのイメージをコントロールできる。スケールに密度というものがあるならば、密度を濃くすれば重く、密度を薄くすれば軽く感じるかもしれない。

それでは、建築の見た目を重厚にしてスケールの密度を薄くしたらどうなるだろうか。あるいは、建築の見た目を軽快にしてスケールの密度を濃くしたらどうなるだろうか。

建築はそもそも重くて動かないが、重さとスケールの関係に注目して見た目の重量感をコントロールしスケール感を操れば、建築の見せ方にバリエーションを築くことができ、その見せ方によって建築の周りの空間に様々な影響を与えることができる。

Architecture is heavy and does not move in the first place, but if you pay attention to the relationship between weight and scale and control the appearance of weight and manipulate the scale, you can create variations in the way the architecture looks, and depending on the way you look around the architecture. 大小のスケールの組み合わせで建築をつくることにより、建築の周りの空間までスケールによって巻き込み、つながりをつくることができるのではないかと考えている。

建築として自律するだけでなく、周りをも巻き込んで建築空間の一部としたい。そのためには何かつながりが必要で、ただ物理的なつながりはなかなかつくれないからスケールで巻き込もうとした。

周りをスケールで巻き込もうとしたら少なくとも2つの建築が必要である。ちょっと磁場をイメージした。N極とS極があることで磁力線が発生するように、2つの建築が影響し合いその場だけのスケールが発生し、周りに影響を与える。その影響はきっとその場の雰囲気を変えるだけの力を持つだろう。

I think that by creating an architecture with a combination of large and small scales, it is possible to involve the space around the architecture with the scale and create a connection.

I want to not only be autonomous as an architecture, but also to involve the surroundings and make it a part of the architectural space. To do that, I needed some kind of connection, but I couldn't get a physical connection, so I tried to get involved on a scale.

If you want to get around on a scale, you need at least two buildings. I imagined a magnetic field for a moment. Just as the presence of N and S poles produces magnetic lines of force, the two buildings affect each other, creating an in-situ scale that affects the surroundings. The influence will surely have the power to change the atmosphere of the place.

モジュールやパターンの反復には何故か一昔前の事のような感じがある。それは同じことの反復が大量生産や工場や伝統といったワードと結びつくと勝手に思い込んでいるからかもしれない。

現代でもモジュールやパターンの反復は至る所にある。しかし一昔前とは違い、反復されるの枠組みだけで、その中身には多様性があるのではないかと考えている。

一昔前は全てが反復され、反復されること自体に意味があり目的だった。それは情報伝達の速度が遅く鈍かったので反復の強度のみが唯一確かなものだったからで、現代のように一瞬で情報が広まる状況では反復に意味はなく、反復しているとその分他のものを伝えることができなくなる。

ただ、情報伝達の枠組みだけは使い回され反復される。その枠組みだけが唯一確かなものとして、中身はどうでもよく、好き勝手な多様性が乱舞し、それに一喜一憂する人達がたくさんいる。だから、枠組みをつくる側にいたいと思う。

However, only the framework of information transmission is reused and repeated. The only certainty is that the framework is irrelevant, and there are a lot of people who are happy and sad about the variety that they like. Therefore, I would like to be on the side of creating the framework.

モジュールの反復で何かを描けるか、今3つのピースがあり、それを使ったデザインを考えている。挿入したい空間と比べたらとても小さいピースを生かすには、ピースの外形をひとつのモジュールとして、そのモジュールで空間を組み立てることを思いついた。が、しかし、そこからイメージが膨らまず2日、何かが足りないのだろう。もうひとつ何かモジュールの反復という発想にスパイス的なものを加えたい。

考えられるのは何かを重ね合わすこと。全くの異物を重ね合わせることで3つのピースを浮かび上がらせたい。

To make the best use of the piece, which is very small compared to the space I want to insert, I came up with the idea of using the outer shape of the piece as one module and assembling the space with that module.
