建築が建築以外のことと結びついて存在したら建築としての価値は半減するのだろうか。

例えば、住宅の場合だと、建築とは関係がないことで満載であり、それを一言で言えば「暮らし」かもしれないが、建築は単なる箱、容れ物で、中身は建築とは関係がない「暮らし」で満たされていると考えた場合、「暮らし」に合わせた建築が登場する。

その場合の建築は純粋な意味での建築ではなく、「暮らし」の一部、「暮らし」に括られたものになる。その時の建築は純粋な意味での建築の価値を越えるだろうか。それは「暮らし」の中から何を抽出して建築化するかによるだろう。

建築の輪郭自体は、建築そのものがつくり出すので、他からの影響は無く、建築自体の形がどうあるかが重要であり、それだけのような気がするが、もし建築の輪郭が他からの影響で変わることがあるとしたら何があるだろうかと考えてみた。

ひとつは輪郭自体は変わらないが、それを見る人の認識が様々に変化して、受け取る輪郭の像に変化が起こることは考えられる。意識が様々に変化するのは、まず人によって受け取り方が違うからであり、それはそもそもどのようにでも受け取れるからである。

ではそのような建築が今まで存在したことがあったかというと、歴史を紐解けば、有機的な輪郭、動植物的な輪郭などをした建築は存在した。その場合、受け取る側の見方や意識によって輪郭はいろいろな見え方をしただろう。

意外と輪郭に無頓着なのではないだろうか。

外観の仕上げにはこだわるかもしれないが、輪郭にはこだわらない。仕上げなどの細部は離れればわからないのに、輪郭は離れていてもわかるのに大事にしない。色や高さや緑など景観を良くするためのコードはあるのに、輪郭についてのコードはない。

敷地境界線を越えて影響力を与えようとしたら、離れたところから価値判断をするものに注視すれば良く、輪郭はひとつの価値判断をする指標になるだろう。

Isn't it surprisingly indifferent to the contours?

You may be particular about the finish of the appearance, but not the outline. I don't care about the details such as the finish, even if they are separated, even if they are separated. There are codes for improving the landscape such as color, height and green, but there is no code for contours.

If you want to influence beyond the boundaries of the site, you can look at the ones that make value judgments from a distance, and the outline will be an index for making one value judgment.

空が塞がれたり、風景を遮断したり、何か建築が立ち上がる時は同時に何かの障害になる場合がある。

しかし、新たに建築をスカイラインにそっと挿入することにより、違和感の後にくる新しさが風景をアップグレードさせることになるように考え計画している。

However, by gently inserting the new architecture into the skyline, we are planning to think that the newness that comes after the discomfort will upgrade the landscape.

圧倒的にスケールが大きい都市計画に対して、圧倒的にスケールが小さい建築計画で何がてきるかを考えてみると、少なくとも大きいものに飲み込まれてしまうのではなく、波紋が広がるように敷地境界線を越えて影響を与えることかもしれないと思った。

小さなひとつの建築が影響を持って周辺環境の雰囲気を変えることは良い例か悪い例かは別にしてある。その時の建築はやはり自律した強度が強い建築である場合が多い。つまり、主張が強く、何かを単独で強く表現している。

ただ、そういう自律した建築は段々と疲弊をしてくることも事実である。主張の強さ、表現の強さはいずれ慣れるか時代にそぐわなくなる。その時の建築の強さは違和感しかなく、むしろ主張の強さ、表現の強さが行き詰まり感を出す。

敷地境界線を超えて与える影響力の源は自律の強さだけだろうか。影響力など無くても良いとなるとまた別の話だが、自律以外、それは他律で自律以上の影響力を出すことを考えてみると、周辺環境との関係性でまた別の視点が持て、新たな関係性が生まれるような気がする。

However, it is also a fact that such autonomous architecture is gradually exhausted. The strength of assertion and the strength of expression will eventually become unsuitable for the times. The strength of the architecture at that time was only uncomfortable, but rather the strength of assertion and the strength of expression gave a sense of impasse.

Is the strength of autonomy the only source of influence beyond the boundaries of the site? It is a different story when it is not necessary to have influence, but when considering that it exerts more influence than autonomy by heteronomy, it has a different perspective in relation to the surrounding environment. I feel like a new relationship will be born.

延々と続く雑草が生えた緑の地面とアスファルトに、脇の線路、そして続く頭上の空がすでに風景として慣れ親しんだものになっているが、ここから今の風景の面影もないくらいに変わる。

変わらずに強い強度で建ち続けるか、変わりゆく風景の中で順応していくか。生物の進化の過程を紐解けば順応になるので、なるべく息長く建ち続けてもらうには順応しかない。

Insert new architecture in the early stages of that changing phase. Insert it so that it interrupts the boundary between the changing area and the remaining area, and the boundary of time.

Whether to continue to build with strong strength without change, or to adapt in the changing landscape. If you unravel the evolutionary process of living things, you will become acclimatized, so there is no choice but to adapt to have them continue to build for as long as possible.
