精度が手掛かり

省スペース化する時の手掛かりは精度である。

人と建築の関係性をより単純で簡素にし、より密にするために設えを省スペース化し、壁の厚みの中に納めてしまえば、それは飛行機のトイレのように、匿名性が生まれ、設えの差異が壁の厚みだけになり、人は壁の厚みを選べば、それも気分次第で選べば、日常の営みがはじまる。

すなわち、それは「壁の厚み」を通して、人と建築の関係性がより直になり、また、日常の営みとより直結するので、より人と建築の関係性が濃密になる。

ただ、単に設えを小さくし、壁の厚みの中に納めれば良いという訳では無くて、狭いのと省スペースは違う。

飛行機のトイレを思い浮かべると、狭くてもその狭さを感じことは案外少ないが、実際はとても狭く、しかし、その狭さを感じないことが、そこでの営みの快適性につながる。

ではなぜ、その狭さを感じないか、それは限られたスペースの中で、余計なものが存在せず、適切な場所に適切なものが精度よく納められていて、そこでの営みが疎外されずに快適で、特に何も意識しないでも、普段通りの営みを送ることができるから。

だから、精度ほど、日常の営みに直結し、快適性につながるものはない。

"Accuracy is a clue"

Therefore, there is nothing that is directly related to daily activities and leads to comfort as much as accuracy.
